An intuitive practice of making

My name is Zoya, and I’m a multidisciplinary fiber artist based in Tallinn, Estonia.

I came to handcraft not through formal education, but through a long, intuitive path of making. Crochet entered my life more than ten years ago and gradually grew into a deeper exploration of fiber, texture, rhythm, and form. In 2016 I designed my first crochet pattern, and since then my practice has continued to evolve patiently and at its own pace.

A few years ago embroidery became part of my work, opening a new way of thinking with my hands - more tactile, experimental, and less predictable. Since then I’ve continued exploring weaving and mixed fiber techniques, allowing different materials and processes to meet and influence one another.

Today I work across crochet, embroidery, weaving, and mixed fiber techniques, approaching handcraft as a slow and exploratory art practice. I’m drawn to repetition, texture, natural fibers, tactile experiences, and small variations, the kinds of details that reveal themselves only when you take your time.

Much of my work grows through the process itself. I learn by making, paying attention, and allowing ideas to unfold.

Alongside my studio practice, I create original fiber artworks and crochet designs, and share patterns, workshops, and slow-making projects for those who would like to make alongside me. You can find my crochet patterns on Etsy and Ravelry, while Patreon is home to my workshops, process-based projects, and quiet creative series such as Sunday Mornings.
